FULL MOON HERB // November

White Sage is Sacred and rare plant, growing heartily in only three places in the world, Coastal California , the home of ZenBunni, being one of them. We are so blessed!

White Sage is sacred in many Shamanic and Native American belief systems and is used in smudging and other ceremonies to purify the body.  It is also referred to as ceremonial sage and has used for clearing space and purification for hundreds of years across the globe. Sage is associated with wisdom, clearing, blessing, protection, easing grief, and the granting of wishes. To make a wish, write your wish on a sage leaf and sleep with it under your pillow for three days and then bury it.
Due to it's sacred properties, scarce growing, and popularity, White Sage is now an endangered plant to be treated with the utmost reverence, please use discernment and moderation when harvesting. In fact, if you are lucky to come across a plant in the wild, please consider paying homage instead of harvesting, offering the plant water and a prayer. If you do harvest, a very little goes a long way! Our herbal teacher Marysia Miernowska of The Gaia School of Healing shared words of wisdom from Dr. Jim Adams, a Chumash Healer in Los Angeles:
The practice of burning a sage bundle is unnecessary and excessive. Instead, begin a practice of burning a single leaf instead. When smudging someone, one small leaf is all you need. Your sage bundle can last many years and the Sacred Blessing herb White Sage can live on.
Our green witch Marysia highly recommends planting White Sage in the garden,
"It thrives when cultivated in many different climates and growing it is a beautiful way to be surrounded by its healing energy. It has a magnificent presence in the garden and you can learn much from the spirit of White Sage by growing it or sitting with it in nature. If you grow your own White Sage, you can harvest it ethically while being a steward to this sacred plant."
